ERC Starting Grant for Jun.-Prof. Stefan Mönch

Intelligent energy conversion, highly efficient or even almost lossless: This vision is what drives Stefan Mönch. Through the “TolleConverter” project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC), he aims to pave the way for this.

The ERC has awarded Dr. Stefan Mönch, Junior Professor at the Institute of Electrical Energy Conversion (IEW) at the University of Stuttgart, one of its prestigious Starting Grants worth around EUR 1.5 million for his research in the “TolleConverter” project. The potential applications of his basic research into almost lossless energy converters range from electromobility and innovative heat pumps to robotics and other energy converters.
