Since the beginning of the year, iew has been involved in the “NAFTech” project to develop an axial-flux synchronous reluctance machine (AF-SynRM) as a rare-earth-free, compact, and efficient alternative for traction drives.
In an interdisciplinary collaboration, iew is responsible for the complete electromagnetic design of the machine. This work is complemented by the expertise of FAPS (FAU) in manufacturing technologies and PEM (RWTH Aachen) in tolerance chain management.
The aim of the project is to enable the industrialization of this sustainable technology, particularly for SMEs, through an integrated consideration of design and production.
